Community Safety Partnership (CSP)

Rochford & Castle Point Community Safety Partnership (CSP)

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 placed a joint responsibility upon specific agencies to work together, and with other agencies within the community, to develop and implement strategies to protect their communities from crime and help people feel safe.

As a leading member of the CSP, Rochford District Council is firmly committed to tackling crime and disorder and reducing the fear of crime in the District.

Other statutory members are from the following key agencies:

  • Essex Police
  • Castle Point and Rochford Clinical Commissioning Group
  • Essex County Council
  • Essex County Fire and Rescue Service
  • Castle Point Borough Council
  • National Probation Service

The coronavirus pandemic has had a major impact on the ability of the Rochford Community Safety Partnership to deliver against the CSP plan for 2020/21 (which was rolled over from 2019/20), particularly in respect of diversionary and educational activities. A number of previously successful interventions have been postponed because their delivery mechanism was not consistent with prevailing HM Government restrictions imposed because of the pandemic. For example, both Crucial Crew and Walk online events planned for 2020/21 were unable to take place – these had previously involved the delivery of the respective programmes to mass audiences in either schools or large venues such as the Mega Centre. However, as opportunities arise, we will seek to deliver interventions in a safe way.
