Commitment to Improving Mental Health

The Castle Point and Rochford Health and Wellbeing Board has signed up to the Prevention Concordat for Better Mental Health.

The Board has added their name to the list of signatories showing a shared commitment to work together to prevent mental health problems and promote good mental health. This is only achieved through partnership working. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and we all have a role to play.

The Board’s commitment plan was co-produced. It outlines the cross-sector actions they will take to improve mental wellbeing and create resilient communities. The Board will promote a prevention-focused approach and work to reduce health inequalities.

One in six adults experiences at least one diagnosable mental health problem in their lifetime. This is influenced by the environment in which people are born, grow, live, and work. This means many of these problems can be prevented. The Board aims to address these wider determinants of mental wellbeing and work towards achieving a fairer and more equal society.

The Board's commitments will be incorporated into its new joint health and wellbeing strategy and action plan, due to launch in 2022.
