Planning Policy Consultations

Consultations

The Council’s Statement of Community Involvement (SCI updated in 2022) sets out how local communities and organisations will be involved in the plan-making process. Current and past planning policy consultations can be viewed through our online consultation system, found in Related Content.

The Council holds consultations at each stage of the development of the new Local Plan, in accordance with the procedures set out in the SCI. It may also hold periodic consultations on other matters of planning policy, such as updates to the SCI, or adoption of new Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs). For details of these, please refer to ‘Current and Past Planning Policy Consultations’ in Related Content.

If you would like to be kept up to date on future planning policy consultations and opportunities to be involved in plan-making, please join the Planning Policy team’s mailing list using the link in Related Content. This is a simple process requiring a valid email address.

The Council will issue specific guidance on how to respond to consultations and use the online consultation system and any specialised software (e.g. maps), as has been done most recently with the new Local Plan Spatial Options consultation.  The Council has prepared Guidance Notes for submitting representations about soundness and legal compliance during consultations on Submission Documents, which can be found in Related Content.
