Rochford’s Chairman reveals his chosen theme and charity for the Civic year

Rochford District Council is proud to announce the Chairman's theme for 2023-2024 Civic year to be: “Enabling Communities, Focusing on Children within the District”.

This year’s theme reflects on the councils commitment to empowering communities and investing in the well-being of children, ensuring a brighter future for the District. Early intervention has been recognised as a critical factor in addressing social, educational and developmental challenges faced by children.

On Sunday 9th July 2023, Cllr Lawmon, hosted the annual Chairman’s Garden Party and announced that he would be supporting SCAFT.org – Supporting Carers and Families Together.

Cllr Jack Lawmon, Chairman of Rochford District Council, said: “I chose SCAFT as they support my commitment in  creating a vibrant and inclusive district where our communities thrive and our children flourish. By coming together and putting our efforts and focus into supporting children and families at an early stage, we can unlock their potential and we lay the groundwork for a future of boundless opportunities and collective success for future generations".

Andrew Trewern, from SCAFT, said: “It’s fantastic being the Chairman’s chosen charity. Supporting Carers And Families Together (SCAFT) aims to relieve the social, emotional, mental, physical and educational needs of Carers and their families. With this support we hope to be able to offer more help to the wider community.”

The Chairman’s Garden Party included a raffle, with all proceeds going to the nominated charity, in which over £550 was raised at this year’s event.

The Chairman invites all community members, businesses, and stakeholders to join hands in achieving the objectives of this year’s theme.
