Free parking for 3 hours for Blue Badge holders in Council owned car parks

From Monday 16 October 2023, all Blue Badge holders displaying a valid Blue Badge and Parking Clock will be eligible for free parking for up to 3 hours within Rochford District Council owned car parks.

The Blue Badge Scheme, designed to assist people with disabilities or health conditions affecting their mobility, offers them the opportunity to park closer to their desired destinations. Blue Badge holders are required to display a valid Blue Badge and Parking Clock, adhering to the terms and conditions of issuance. This rule applies whether the badge holder is the driver or a passenger. Failure to display a valid Blue Badge and Parking Clock will result in the issuance of a Penalty Charge Notice.

Councillor Vilma Wilson, Lead Member of Public Spaces and Assets for Rochford District Council’s Joint Administration, said, "By offering free 3-hour parking to Blue Badge holders in any of the 12 car parks owned by the Council, we hope we are making it easier for them to get to where they want to go, especially if using public transport is challenging. This initiative not only provides practical benefits but also underlines our commitment to creating a more inclusive and accessible environment. I am dedicated to ensuring the continued success of this scheme through regular monitoring."

Councillor John Mason Leader of Rochford District Council’s Joint Administration added, "I am very pleased that we are able to offer free 3-hour parking to Blue Badge holders. The aim is to enhance the overall quality of life in the District by making our areas more accessible and convenient. We want to ensure improved accessibility and flexibility for parking for our residents who need it.”
