The Chairman of Rochford District Council, Cllr Mike Steptoe, invited local schoolchildren from around the Rochford district to design the official Rochford District Council Civic Christmas card which has been sent to Mayors and other dignitaries in and around Essex.

The theme this year was ‘Scenes of the Rochford District at Christmas’

There were lots of excellent entries received this year. After much consideration, Cllr Steptoe chose a card designed by ten year old Elise Howe from Holt Farm Junior School, featuring ‘A stunning image of Rochford Hall, along with a penguin playing golf’ Elise was presented with a £50 gift card, a copy of the final Christmas card, and a certificate.

Two Runners Up, Emmy and Macy Keene, were also each awarded a £10 gift card and certificate for their outstanding entries.

Rochford District Council’s Chairman, Cllr Mike Steptoe, said: “I was thrilled with how many entries we received this year, with so many creative and inventive images. After much deliberation, I decided that Elise’s drawing would make the perfect Christmas card, and very clearly fit the theme that we had asked for. It’s a truly unique and creative design, and I’m sure it will be loved by all who receive it. Elise deserved to win first prize for her efforts! A huge well done to Elise, and to all of the young people who entered”.
