Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 in the Workplace - Guidance for Employers

The Council’s Environmental Health Team is part of the national test and trace response, working in partnership with Essex County Council and Public Health England (PHE).

If there is a single confirmed case of COVID-19 (i.e. a positive test result) associated with a workplace, employers should contact their local Health Protection Team (HPT).

The local HPT which all businesses within the Rochford district will report to is

However, if you cannot contact the HPT please contact the Council’s Environmental Health Team.  Their telephone number is 01702 318059.  This contact number is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Please note that although all our staff are still working, the Council offices are currently closed to the public, so please do not attempt to travel to the offices. 

In addition to reporting to the HPT or the Council’s Environmental Health Team, you must still report the communicable disease (COVID-19) via the normal route of a RIDDOR report.  For guidance on how to do this please go to the HSE website using this link
