Rochford District Council is working in partnership with Essex County Council, Better Housing Better Health (BHBH) and the National Energy Foundation (NEF), to bring residents energy efficiency grants ECO4 and GBIS. Applications are now open, providing residents with opportunities to enhance energy efficiency in their homes.
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) and The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) aim to assist low-income families by enhancing the energy efficiency of their homes while reducing carbon footprint. Through these programs, residents can apply to have solar panels, heat pumps, and other energy-efficient measures installed at little to no cost.
ECO4 and GBIS are available to homeowners and tenants, with landlord permission, with a household income below £31,000 and Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) between D and G. Residents with a property tax band between A and D can also apply for the GBIS. Both schemes are also available to residents with a qualifying benefit or health condition. No income limit is applied to those with a qualifying health condition.
Eligible residents could save energy costs and improve their EPC rating with insulation, boiler replacements, low-energy lighting, air source heat pumps and solar panels. This will help families phase out high carbon, fossil fuel heating and reduce fuel poverty.
