Sweyne Park Open Space playground to receive upgrade
Rochford District Council has secured funding to upgrade the playground at Sweyne Park Open Space, which will receive exciting new equipment designed to keep children’s imaginations active.
The authority has been granted £45,000 by Enovert Community Trust to make improvements to the park, in Rayleigh, with the Council providing the additional funds. This will pay for new toddler swings, and a toddler multiplay unit. There will also be improved challenging ‘trim trail’ items (a modern assault course for children to clamber across), a big spinning swing, a nest swing and a large multi-play rope swing unit.
Rochford District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Cllr Arthur Williams, said: “I know how important this playground is to families living around Sweyne Park Open Space, and that many have been eagerly awaiting replacement swings and equipment which will keep their children active and entertained.
“Our officers have been working hard to enter a funding bid and I am delighted that they have now secured the money to upgrade the park, we will be going out to tender shortly. We will then be able to install some equipment that will not only be designed to encourage physical activity, but also creativity and imaginative play.”
