Rayleigh Windmill wins Wedding Venue of the Year!

At the Essex Wedding Awards glamourous gala event on Thursday 26th November 2015, Rayleigh Windmill was announced winner of ‘Wedding Venue of the Year – Something Different’.

Rayleigh Windmill has been a ‘Wedding Venue of the Year’ finalist at the Essex Wedding Awards for two consecutive years and was thrilled to have won the award this year.

The judges commented on the night, “Small but beautifully put together! Judges felt that Rayleigh Windmill really was ‘something different!’ They especially liked how they offered a dedicated event coordinator working nonstop for every couple, along with the beautiful grounds for excellent photo opportunities.”

Portfolio Holder Community, Cllr June Lumley said: “The Windmill is not only a fantastic venue but also stands testimony to what can be achieved when people come together. From a crumbling monument to a by-gone age, the Windmill was given a new lease of life and has now been put to a lovely use thanks to renovations by councils and the time and dedication of many staff and volunteers. The Windmill has always been jewel in Rayleigh’s crown, but this award means many other people across the county will now get to hear what a gem we have.”

The other finalists in the ‘Wedding Venue of the Year – Something Different!’ category were Kings Oak Hotel and Forrester Park. The winners of the three other ‘Wedding Venue of the Year’ categories were Orsett Hall Hotel, Warren Golf Club and Fennes.

It was a successful night for Rayleigh, as Turner and Pennell Bridal Gallery won the award for ‘Wedding Dress Retailer of the Year’. See the full list of 2015 Winners in the Related Content selection.
