Many residents in Rochford are concerned about, or already affected by, the cost-of-living crisis in the country.
The Government has signalled a major programme to protect people and businesses from the expected steep rises in fuel bills over the coming months.
Cllr Simon Wootton, Leader, Rochford District Council, said:
“We know that many people are very worried about inflation, rising fuel prices and the general uncertainty in the economy. The Council is committed to helping local people get through these challenging times, and we are looking at the ways we can help and support residents, working alongside our partners in the local community and across Essex.”
The Council’s website has a one stop shop providing information on local, countywide and nationwide support, help and advice for residents.
You can check your entitlement to benefits, check your eligibility for green grants and find tips on reducing your energy bill.
Warm Hubs where people concerned about their heating bills can visit during the day are coming to the district, operated by local community groups and supported by Essex County Council’s Community Winter Warmth and Welcome Spaces Fund.
Rochford District Council has agreed to supply an additional £5,000 fund to support the system.
If you are receiving benefits and experiencing severe hardship you may be able to apply for additional support.
The Essential Living Fund is an Essex-wide scheme which can provide assistance in the form of food or supermarket vouchers and the provision of recycled furniture or white goods.
If you are experiencing financial hardship there are local organisations who can provide guidance and support, like Citizens Advice South Essex.
