Format of Council meetings from 7 May 2021

Since the start of the pandemic, Council meetings had been held virtually to comply with COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing measures. However, following the Government’s decision not to renew legislation to allow councils to meet virtually and a High Court ruling, council meetings in England and Wales must be held ‘in person’ from 7 May 2021.

Following the High Court ruling, from 7 May 2021 all Council meetings will be held in Sweyne Park School unless otherwise stated on the Agenda.  The Council, under the current Government, must maintain social distancing measures and ensure that meetings are carried out in a Covid safe environment.

The public are entitled to attend meetings in person, subject to the Government’s COVID-19 restrictions and total numbers in the venue being maintained. There will be a limited number of spaces for members of the public to attend each meeting.

If you wish to attend a meeting in person, please email member.services@rochford.gov.uk and specify which meeting you want to attend. Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
