"Stop littering so we can spend your money on more worthwhile things" is the message from Rochford District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Cllr Dave Sperring.

Dropped litter continues to be a blight on several parts of the district. "We spend hundreds of pounds dealing with litter that's dropped across this district and quite frankly it's a disgrace” continued Cllr Sperring.

"We've got some great community groups who are out picking up litter on a daily basis, these volunteers give up their own time to clear up after lazy people who, for some reason think it’s ok to drop their waste all over the place.

“Dropping litter is an offence under the Environment Protection Act 1990 and offenders can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice. I urge residents to respect the Rochford District by not dropping their litter, by either disposing of it in the nearest litter bin or by taking it home.”
