1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will be victims of Domestic Abuse. It can be: Mental - Emotional - Sexual - Financial control - Bullying - Isolation - Harassment - Forced marriage - Honour based violence.
 
The COVID-19 stay at home measures can put pressure on the home environment and cause additional anxiety for those who are experiencing or are at risk of domestic abuse. We understand what a frightening and dangerous experience  domestic abuse can be, especially if you are isolated with your abuser, however, even during the COVID-19 outbreak help and support is still available.

Reporting domestic abuse to Essex Police
 
Report domestic abuse to Essex Police:
  • if your life may be at risk or you have any reason to think someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
  • if you are in danger and unable to talk on the phone, call 999 and then press 55. This will transfer your call to the police who will know it's an emergency and assist you without you having to speak.
  • if you're deaf or hard of hearing and you are experiencing domestic abuse or are concerned for someone who is, call the Essex Police textphone service on 18001 101.
  • if you're experiencing domestic abuse or are concerned for someone who is, report it by calling 101.
 
The South Essex Domestic Abuse Hub (SEDAH) 
 
Covid-19 - Visits to all South Essex Domestic Abuse Hubs are currently suspended but the phone line is open Monday-Friday 9am till 5pm for anyone who would like support and assistance to deal with domestic abuse. The number is 01268 206798. The South Essex Domestic Abuse Hub, is a service for help, advice and assistance. The hub includes a range of support services that you can access.
