Be Prepared For Brexit
A Brexit deal has been agreed in principle with the EU. Both the UK and the EU need to approve and sign the withdrawal agreement. If the withdrawal agreement is not signed by the UK and the EU, it is possible the UK could still leave with no deal. Please keep an eye on social media channels as we have been promoting business workshops and webinars as and when they arise. For local information you can also visit the Essex County Council and BEST Growth Hub websites listed in related content. These websites are regularly updated with the latest information and .gov.uk contains all the business information you need to be prepared should we leave the EU.
You may also wish to read the governments’ No-Deal Readiness Report published on 9th October 2019, please see the Related Content section.
Studies have shown that historically there has been a rise in cybercrime following large notable events impacting the UK as criminals capitalise on any possible confusion. For example, there have already been a number of reported scams following the collapse of Thomas Cook. As we head towards the UK’s exit from the EU there is an expectation that there may be an increase in the number of cyber security attacks against organisations and individuals using the situation as a cover story.
Taking time now to review your businesses cyber security provision and colleague education will help to protect your business from any future disruption from a cyber incident. You may find the Metropolitan Police’s Little Book of Cyber Scams 2.0 a useful guide as well as the websites listed in related content.
