Rochford District Council is once again proud to be sponsoring the Environmental Business Award category at the Southend Business Awards 2010.
Businesses are invited to apply for the awards which also include 12 other categories, by the deadline of Friday 27 August 2010.
The awards, organised by Newsquest, have been running for 16 years and hundreds of businesses across the region have benefitted from them as they provide a positive accolade for the winning enterprises.
Rochford District Council – which has one of the highest recycling rates in the country as well as a ClimateCO2de Strategy aimed at addressing the issues of climate change – has sponsored the Environmental Award for three years and is proud to support and encourage environmental awareness amongst businesses in the District.
Rochford District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Councillor Michael Steptoe said: “We are really happy to be involved once again in this year’s awards. As a local authority we have always been committed to making a difference to our environment in everything we do.
There is lots of potential amongst businesses to be sustainable and we want to make sure that those businesses which have gone the extra mile are recognised and rewarded”.
Judges in this particular category will be looking for responsible environmental aspects such as energy and water efficiency and recycling.
