Rochford District Council is pleased to announce that, as of June 1 2010, Mr Nick North has become the licence-holder for Rochford Reservoir in Bradley Way.
The site will now be known as Marks Hall Fisheries – Rochford Reservoir and will not just have responsibility for issuing permits to fish, but also a number of other exciting initiatives.
Licence holder Nick North explained: “Although we will be working hard to make the reservoir a great place for anglers there are a number of other projects that we are planning as well”.
We want to work with the District Council’s Leisure Services team to provide junior coaching sessions and pond dipping as well as working with the Environment Agency to provide excellent facilities for people with disabilities to fish.”
Rochford District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Tourism, Heritage, the Arts, Culture and Business, Councillor Keith Gordon, said: “The Council spent a great deal of time ensuring that whoever took over the licence would deliver first-class facilities.
After a thorough tendering process, Mr North has been given the licence and we look forward to working with him to make the reservoir the first choice place for people to come to, whether they live in the District or outside it, for top class angling facilities.”
Anglers who wish to use the reservoir now require a day ticket or full membership to fish. Day tickets can be obtained from the Horse and Groom Public House, Bradley Way Rochford; Pete’s Tackle at 103 Rochford Road Southend-on-Sea or from the bailiff on the bank. Full membership can be purchased by contacting Nick North on 07963 112588.
