Veterans Enjoy Afternoon Tea

Posted on 10 March 2010 by admin

The Chairman of Rochford District Council, Councillor Tony Humphries met with more than 70 local veterans at a traditional afternoon tea, and were entertained by “Come Home Sweet Papa”.

The event was held to recognise those in the Rochford District who have served our Country and gave Councillor Humphries the opportunity to meet with them and share stories.

Councillor Humphries said: “It was such an enjoyable afternoon meeting with some of the amazing variety of servicemen and women. It is very important that we remember and acknowledge the contribution residents have made through service in the forces.”

All of the main services were represented, with veterans from all ranks and disciplines enjoying the relaxed company and the chance to share experiences and memories.
