Rochford District Council is committed to improving how we provide services for residents. Feedback from you is one of the best ways of knowing how we are doing.
We collect feedback through Area Committee meetings, consultation on specific services and mystery shopping.
We also find out how we are doing through comments, compliments and complaints, which can be made via our website at www.rochford.gov.uk or by using the forms at our reception areas.
The feedback we receive is invaluable for learning how we can improve.
Whether it’s a park or open space where you live, a road you drive along, or anything in the way the Council delivers services that could be done better, we want to know what you think.
Here we profile the situations where you helped us to help you.
Wherever you want to go, we can make it easier
You said: A section of Rawreth Lane needs to be re-surfaced
We did: Following strong representations by Rochford District Council, Essex County Council re-surfaced two large stretches of carriageway along Rawreth Lane.
You said: Install a litterbin by the Rayleigh direction bus stop at Harrogate Drive.
We did: The inspectors visited the area and have confirmed that a litterbin will be installed on a pole close to a bus stop on the opposite side of the road to no 139 Greensward Lane, Hockley.
You said: Restore Service 10 timetables in frames at Ashingdon School’s bus stops, both Rayleigh and Rochford/Canewdon directions.
We did: Arriva has confirmed that the Service 10 timetable was installed in the same week it was requested.
You said: Have been stuck in an extensive traffic queue behind a rubbish lorry.
We did: The waste management contractor was reminded of its responsibility regarding waste collections during rush hours.
You said: I’m concerned at dangers of speeding traffic along White Hart Lane
We did: Arrangements made by the police to undertake a site visit with Ward Members.
You said, we did – success snapshots
- Halls Well…The Central Area Committee suggested an extension to the bridle path at the Clements Hall grounds – the Council has allocated more than £15,000 for this.
- Be a Friend…Consultation on our open spaces led to the creation of the “Friends of Sweyne Park” group.
- Logged on…Mystery shopping told us that some pages on our website are not as clear as they could be, so we have improved them.
- Extended car park…The West Area Committee asked for an extension to the Rawreth Recreation Field car park – the Council is paying for this.
- Faster on the phone…A survey of the Revenues & Benefits service told us that you wanted a faster phone response, so we are putting new systems in place to make this happen.
- Broken bollards…As a result of a resident alerting us to the issue, arrangements have now been made for broken bollards on the Betts Farm Estate in Hockley to be replaced.

At a meeting on Tuesday night with council officers re planning, attended by about 250/300 Hockley residents, many people commented that they do not receive copies of Rochford District Matters.
I understand that the same comments were made at the Hullbridge meeting on Monday.
What is RDC going to do about this?

Many thanks for your comments regarding the distribution of Rochford District Matters.
The distribution of Rochford District Matters is currently being reviewed by myself and colleagues. Please rest assured that we are working hard to re-evaluate our current delivery methods for RDM and that we hope to have an improved service in place for the summer edition of RDM.
Should you – or anyone you speak to – have problems with receiving a copy of RDM please do not hesitate to let me know by email to communications@ rochford.gov.uk so I can take it up with our distribution company.
Many thanks

Your latest item on recycling in “Rochford District Matters” is very helpfull and informative, however
you say that the green bins can have branches up to 30 cms put into them !
Do you realy want logs of just under 12 inches diameter in the bins ?

Thank you for your comment.
The specification from the company who composts the garden waste collected from the District, states that branches of up to 30cm in diameter can be accepted, so we are happy for residents to put these in their compostables bins.
