Rochford District Council is encouraging young people across the District to get creative whilst learning about the benefits of healthy eating and not smoking, with a poster competition.
The initiative is to promote National Food Safety Week which starts on 7 June 2010. The closing date for the poster competition is 4 May 2010.
The competition is open to all 7-18 year olds throughout the District and the four age categories are 7 and under, 8-11, 11-16 and 16-18.
The first two age categories are being asked to design a poster promoting healthy eating. The challenge for the older age groups is to design a poster promoting the benefits of not smoking.
Rochford District Council’s Head of Environmental Services, Richard Evans said “This is a fantastic opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles to young people whilst encouraging them to be creative. We are looking forward to seeing what great ideas the young people of the District come up with”.
The winners of each age category will receive a £30 gift voucher and certificate and £120 for their School, College, Academy or Youth Group. There are also two team prizes, one for each theme (healthy eating and not smoking). The team prizes are a £60 gift voucher to share, a team certificate and £90 for their School, College, Academy or Youth Group.
