We found getting the neighbours involved is a good way to keep them happy. Two young boys live next door, so we asked the Mother if they would like to help care for the hens and learn about looking after animals. In exchange for their help they could keep all of the eggs produced on the two days they let them out, cleaned after them and fed them. It worked wonders and the neighbours were really happy with the eggs and we got two days off a week from having to let them out.
