The Chairman of Rochford District Council, Councillor Jim Grey held a reception on Friday 1 May at The Freight House, Rochford to meet everyone nominated for the citizen of the year awards, and to present certificates and bouquets.
Helping others in the community, rising to personal challenges or helping with charitable work – these are all merits displayed by the people across the Rochford District who were nominated in this year’s Citizen of the Year awards.
Sixteen year old Daniel Deadman from Rochford, winner of the overall “Citizen of the Year” Award, was presented with his award at the Council’s Civic Dinner earlier this year. However, the judging panel felt that all the people nominated deserved to be recognised. The panel found it very difficult to make the selections as everybody who was nominated made a valuable contribution to the community.
The people who took the time to raise awareness of the special citizens, were also invited to the Reception to thank them for making the effort to highlight the valuable work that nominees are doing.
After the presentations, everyone enjoyed a buffet and a chance to socialise with the nominees and guests.
