Rochford District Replacement Local Plan (2006)
The Rochford District Replacement Local Plan, which was adopted
by the Council on 16th June 2006, contains the policies
against which planning applications are assessed. The Local Plan
system, however, is now gradually being replaced by a new portfolio
of documents, called the Local Development Framework. The
Replacement Local Plan remained part of the statutory development
plan until 15th June 2009, after which policies within
the document expired unless saved by the Secretary of State.
Rochford District Council applied to the Secretary of State for
the extension of saved policies. Consequently, the Secretary
of State has issued a direction which saves a number of policies
until they are superseded by emerging documents contained within
the Council’s Local Development Framework. Further information on
the saved policies, including schedule of policies which have been
saved, may be found by following the relevant links below the
‘Related Links’ section at the bottom of this page.
The preparation of an interactive Local Plan for the 2006
version is a first for the Council, and makes the plan more
accessible and user-friendly. It is hoped that you will be able to
access the information you need more easily and with precision.
However, please note that not all the policies contained within the
interactive version have been saved, and as such the interactive
Local Plan should be read in conjuncture with the schedule of saved
policies.
The interactive version of the Local Plan can be viewed through
the Planning Portal or via a direct link, both of which are
situated in the ‘Related Links’ section at the bottom of this page.
If you select the Planning Portal, you can choose to enter the
Portal as a member of the public or as a planning professional; in
either case follow the links to 'Local Information' and enter
Rochford in the search box - this will then display various options
including the option to view the Local Plan.
The Replacement Local Plan and Proposals Maps may also be
downloaded by clicking on the relevant links below the ‘Related
Documents’ section at the bottom of this page. The Local Plan has
been updated to clearly highlight which policies have not been
saved beyond 15th June 2009, and have now expired.

provided, but there is a charge of £100 plus £5 postage and
packing.
