Rochford District Replacement Local Plan (2006)

The Rochford District Replacement Local Plan, which was adopted by the Council on 16 June 2006, contains the policies which planning applications are assessed against. The Local Plan system, however, is now gradually being replaced by a new collection of documents, called the Local Development Framework or LDF.

The policies in the Rochford District Replacement Local Plan (2006) were due to expire on 15 June 2009 – 3 years after the date of adoption of the Plan. On 18 February 2009 Rochford District Council wrote to the Secretary of State responsible for planning requesting that a number of policies in the Local Plan are saved beyond this date.

On 5 June 2009 the Secretary of State wrote to Rochford District Council and issued a direction saving a number of policies in the Rochford District Replacement Local Plan (2006). A list of the policies within the Local Plan which have been saved is available to view under Related Documents.

Policies within this list remain saved until they are replaced by new policies within the Council’s emerging Local Development Framework (the new planning system which has replaced Local Plans).

Policies that are not listed within the schedule expired on 15 June 2009.

The Rochford District Core Strategy was adopted on 13 December 2011 and replaces a number of the saved Local Plan policies – more detail is provided within Appendix 1 of the Rochford District Core Strategy.

However, please note that not all the policies contained within the interactive version have been saved, and as such the interactive Local Plan should be read alongside the list of saved policies and Appendix 1 of the Rochford District Core Strategy.

The Replacement Local Plan (2006) and the Proposals Maps (which show the different land uses designated in the Local Plan on a map) can be downloaded under Related Documents. The Replacement Local Plan (2006) has been updated to clearly highlight which policies have not been saved beyond 15 June 2009, and have now expired.
