Hockley Area Action Plan (HAAP) Submission Document

The Hockley Area Action Plan is an important planning document, and is part of a collection of documents known as the Local Development Framework.

It follows on from, and has to conform to, the Rochford Core Strategy - the Plan that was adopted in December 2011 which set out the principles for development in the centre of Hockley.

This document will be used to guide appropriate development within the centre of Hockley and direct future public and private investment.

The Hockley Area Action Plan has to go through a number of stages before it can be adopted. The latest version of the Hockley Area Action Plan prepared by consultants Allies and Morrison Urban Practitioners is the Submission Document. This document is the result of public participation in, and appraisal of previous drafts containing options for allocation. This is the version that the Council proposes to submit to the Government for examination who will make arrangements for an Examination in Public by an Independent Planning Inspector.

Before submitting the Hockley Area Action Plan, the Council published the document for formal consultation between 29 November 2012 and 25 January 2013, and invited interested parties to submit representations on the document’s soundness and legal compliance.

Representations duly made can be viewed on the online consultation system under Related Links and will be submitted to the Government, alongside the Hockley Area Action Plan and other supporting material, to be considered by the Independent Planning Inspector as part of the Examination. Please note that there may be a time delay between submission of comments and appearance online.

Please note the version of the 2012 Hockley Area Action Plan Submission Document published on the website on 4 December 2012 at 5pm contained a minor error (Figure 13 was shown as Figure 12). The issue has now been corrected. The correct version was uploaded on 19 December at 4.10pm. Please note that this minor error did not relate to any of the proposed policies or proposal map. The error was only contained within the online version of the document available to download via this website; and not in hard copies of the document, or the version on the online consultation system
