Call for Sites and Strategic Housing Land Availability
Assessment
Sites put forward for consideration in the preparation of
Allocations Development Plan Document
Between January 2007 – April 2009, the Council put out a 'call
for sites' with the aim of gathering information from landowners
and developers about land that might be allocated for development
in the Allocations DPD.
A number of sites have been put forward by developers and
landowners for consideration by the Council these are listed in the
related links at the bottom of this page, together with maps
showing their locations. The site numbers on the list correspond to
the numbers in red on the maps. The list of sites and District maps
(below) are an update of the sites put forward for consideration
previously.
It must be stressed that the list is for information only and no
decisions have yet been made on the appropriateness of any of these
sites being included in the Allocations DPD. It is also possible
that additional sites will be put forward for consideration in due
course. Sites submitted have been considered in the production of
the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA).
Related documents at the foot of this page include the list and
maps showing sites put forward in the District.
Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)
The Council has produced a Strategic Housing Land Availability
Assessment (SHLAA) as required by PPS 3: Housing. The aim of the
SHLAA is to identify sufficient specific sites for housing in study
area for the next 10-15 years. The Assessment is not a one-off
study, an annual review of the schedule of sites in the SHLAA will
be included within each successive AMR.
The Council worked with key stakeholders throughout the process
to ensure the SHLAA is sound and robust. A consultation was carried
out in March/April 2009 which allowed stakeholders to make comments
on the methodological aspects of the study and to put forward sites
for consideration. Responses received from the stakeholders have
been included in the Appendix of the document.
It must be stressed that the SHLAA does not set policy and does
not allocate land for development. However, it forms a key
component of the evidence base to support the delivery of
sufficient land for housing in a long term. More details for the
land allocations will be published in the Allocations Development
Plan Document (DPD).
The completed SHLAA can be found in the related documents
section at the foot of this page.
