Future Development of the District - The Core Strategy
Preferred Options
At the end of 2008, we asked for your views on the future of the
District: how will the population grow, where will families and
single people live, where will the work be, how will we get to it,
where will we shop and spend our leisure time? All these issues
have to be planned to take us into the 2020s. The local authority
has the key responsibility, together with associated organisations,
communities and individuals, to make these decisions.
The Core Strategy is the main, overarching document of the Rochford
District Local Development Framework a collection of documents that
will determine how the District develops in the future. It will set
out the overall strategy for the District until 2021 and, where
appropriate, beyond.
The Core Strategy Preferred Options is not the final version of the
Core Strategy; it sets out our current preferred options for
tackling the challenges the District faces and for taking advantage
of the District's opportunities in spatial terms. For each strategy
and action we have stated our preferred option and, where
appropriate, an alternative option.
We asked for your thoughts and comments when we consulted on the
previous version of this document - the Issues and Options version.
We listened to what you had to say, and reviewed and revised the
preferred options. We need to get feedback from you so we can take
into account everyone's views before the document is
finalised.
The consultation period ran from 5th November until 17th December
2008. Once this period ended we analysed your thoughts and opinions
on the preferred options we have put forward. The final strategy
will now be produced having regard to these. We will write the
final Core Strategy document, stating all the policies that will be
applied to the District. Detailed housing allocations and numbers
will be published in a separate document known as the 'Allocations'
document.
The Core Strategy Preferred Options document, together with the
online consultation system containing all formal representations
and other background information, can be accessed via the links at
the bottom of this page.
