Local Development Framework

The Council are preparing a collection of different documents known as the Local Development Framework or LDF, which will set out how the District will develop in the future. The LDF will gradually replace the Rochford District Replacement Local Plan which was adopted in 2006.

A timetable for the documents forming the LDF is as follows:

Allocations This document will set out site specific policies in accordance with the Core Strategy Development Plan Document  Examination  
Development Management  This document will set out detailed policies for managing development in the District in accordance with the Core Strategy Development Plan Document  Pre-Submission Document May 2013
Hockley Area Action Plan This document will set out policies specific to the centre of Hockley Development Plan Document Examination  
Rayleigh Area Action Plan  This document will set out policies specific to the centre of Rayleigh Development Plan Document Pre-Submission Document September 2013
Rochford Area Action Plan  This document will set out policies specific to the centre of Rochford Development Plan Document Pre-Submission Document May 2013
London Southend Airport and Environs Joint Area Action Plan This document will set out policies specific to London Southend Airport and its surrounding area Development Plan Document Examination  
Playing Pitch Strategy This document assesses the current and future level of supply and demand for playing pitches within the District Supplementary Planning Document Adopted 17 April 2012
Local List   This document sets out options for the designation of buildings and structures which are considered to be of local historical or architectural importance Supplementary Planning Document Adoption   June 2013
Evidence Base This consists of a large number of background documents providing support for the policies and plans that have been selected as being the most suitable for the District Background documents Ongoing
