Highways

The majority of issues relating to highways are the responsibility of Essex County Council. Their remit includes road safety, lining and signing, road maintenance, street lighting, road adoption, school crossing controls, safety cameras, gritting, snow and ice clearance and requests for yellow-lines etc.  To contact the Highways Section, please phone 01268 297500 or email: highways.southarea@essex.gov.uk

Rochford District Council operates as an agent for Essex County Council enforcing On-Street Traffic Regulation Orders (yellow lines etc) throughout the District.  However, we cannot enforce pavement parking or obstruction of the public highway, all of which remains the responsibility of Essex Police.
