100th Windmill celebration
The stunning Rayleigh Windmill hosted it’s 100th celebration in September 2012!
Neil and Hayley Clary became the 100th couple to celebrate when they married at the popular venue.
The new Mr and Mrs Clary said: “We chose the Rayleigh Windmill for our wedding as it is a very unique and intimate venue, and a lovely place to re-visit in the future.
“We have had such a beautiful day, thank you to all the staff at the Windmill.”
To celebrate the 100th ceremony taking place at the Windmill, the Council launched a competition for people who wanted to book the venue to enter a prize draw.
The first ten people to book an event at the Windmill received a 25 per cent discount on their special occasion. The names also went into a hat with a chance of winning the top prize of a 100 per cent discount.
Paul Adams and Clair Sullivan from Harlow were the lucky winners of the prize to win a 100 per cent discount on the hire of the stunning 200-year old venue for their wedding.
After being told about the win, Paul said: “It’s fantastic news and we’re so happy to have won the draw. The Rayleigh Windmill is such an intimate and unique venue that I hope it will be a really special day, we’re both looking forward to it.”
The venue
The Windmill is more than 200 years old and has been sympathetically refurbished to offer a unique venue for your civil wedding, civil partnership, naming ceremony or renewal of vows.
With seating for up to 20 guests, Rayleigh Windmill offers an intimate venue for your celebrations. Several packages are available including the option to hold your reception at The Mill Arts and Events Centre, next to the Windmill.
The Windmill is located in the centre of Rayleigh and next to a sensory garden and the historic Rayleigh Mount - a perfect backdrop for your pictures.
Rayleigh has a host of venues for receptions and other items to help make your day extra special, including florists, jewellers, formal wedding attire and decorations.
A dedicated event co-ordinator will ensure that your special day runs perfectly.
