The arrival of the Railway in the 1890s led to the rise of a modern and thriving community in Hockley.
Hockley is set amongst some of the most attractive countryside in the Rochford District, with a good network of well-maintained footpaths and bridleways. Hockley Woods is an ancient woodland which is owned and maintained by Rochford District Council, and Plumberow Mount boasts views across the Crouch River Valley.
Did you know?
Hockley Woods are the largest remaining area of the wild wood, which covered Essex after the Ice Age 10,000 years ago.
