Get ready for the third annual Rayleigh Arts Festival in October!


This year, Legacy Rayleigh at Holy Trinity Church is getting involved for the first time and will be opening its doors with a programme of activities and performances for young people.


The Parish Rooms at the Church will play host to DJ and breakdancing workshops, acoustic open mic sessions and a band night.


Festival favourites from previous years, including the popular Made in Essex show celebrating the best of contemporary art and craft, make a welcome return the Mill Arts & Events Centre.


Look out for Urban Canvas who will be bringing the art of Italian chalking to Rayleigh High Street as well as music from the Southend Band, Rayleigh Folk Dance Group 'taster' session, a children's arts workshop at Rayleigh Library and T-Shirt designing.


The Festival is sponsored by Virgin Active and Shop at my Local.

I ♥ Rayleigh photography competition

 

Children and young people from across the Rochford District are invited to submit printed and camera phone photos of their favourite places, landmarks and hidden gems of Rayleigh. Entries will be on display at the Mill Arts & Events Centre during the Festival.

 

There are 3 categories: primary school age, secondary school age and camera phone which is open to anyone aged under 16.

Closing date for all applications in 5pm, Wednesday 21 October.

The Mill Arts and Events Centre

 

  • 10am-5pm (Main Hall) The Made in Essex Show: exhibition of contemporary art and craft
  • 10am-5pm (Main Hall) Local performers and musicians
  • 10am-5pm (Outside Main Entrance) Design your own T Shirt
  • 12 midday-5pm (Upstairs) The I ? Rayleigh school's photography exhibition
  • 1pm-5pm (Meeting room) Drop-in art workshop for all ages by the Art Factory
  • 1pm-5pm (Main Foyer) Face painting (a small charge will be made for this activity)

 

Rayleigh Windmill

 

  • 10am-5pm (Ground Floor) Create your own pop-up windmill and other greetings cards. Drop-in workshop for all ages
  • 10am-5pm Rayleigh Windmill Museum

 

Rayleigh High Street

 

  • 11am-3pm Italian Street Chalking with Urban Canvas
  • 3pm and 4.10pm The Southend Band
  • Street Theatre throughout the day

 

Rayleigh Library

 

  • 10am-5pm Drop-in junk art workshop using recycled materials to make your own monster!

 

Holy Trinity Church Parish Rooms

 

  • 1pm-5pm Open Mic Acoustic Legacy Lounge
  • 1.30pm-4.30pm DJ Workshop and Lyricist Lounge
  • 1pm-2.30pm and 3pm-4.30pm Breakdance Workshops
