Housing Register

If you are interested in applying for social rented housing (in
the District), you must first join the Council’s Housing Register.
All applications are judged against the Council’s Lettings Policy
and homes are allocated (usually) to people with the highest need
for a particular type of property.
Housing Strategy
The Housing Strategy identifies the District's current/future
housing needs and how they will be met. The strategy considers
national, regional and sub-regional issues and how they affect the
District. Drawing its conclusions, the strategy identifies the main
housing priorities until 2011 and they will be met.

different types of housing grants that you may be eligible for.
Please also see the Energy Efficiency section below for information
about the different types of energy assistance that you may be
eligible for.
Energy Efficiency
Up to 25% of the heat in your home can be lost through the roof.
Most homes have some kind of insulation but it is often inadequate.
For optimum energy efficiency, you should have insulation that is
270mm deep.
Up to 35% of the heat in your home can be lost through the
walls. Cavity wall insulation is one of the best ways to
reduce your heating bills as it increases the energy efficiency of
your home. If your home was built after 1930, it will probably have
"cavity" walls, this means there is a gap in the walls that can be
filled with insulation. If you insulate these cavities, you'll
bring your home up to current standards and make it warmer, more
comfortable and cheaper to heat.
