Street Cleansing Standards
Mission Statement
Rochford District Council aims to keep the District free of
litter and to remove litter speedily.
We set standards so customers know what level of service they
should expect from us. These are regularly reviewed and take into
account customer's views corporate priorities, changes to
legislation and performance in previous years.
Our commitment to you:
- Town centres and shopping areas will be cleansed at least once
a day, more frequently if required, To ensure that the Council
complies with our cleanliness
- We will make sure that the roads and pavements are kept clean
and tidy
- Empty litter bins and dog bins on a regularly so that they can
be used at all times
- Remove graffiti from street furniture
- Make sure that our waste collection teams leave your street
clean and tidy after each collection.
- Arranges for the removal of dead animals on paths and
highways.

In order to achieve this we request that residents:
- Use litter bins for your litter and gum
- Clean up after your dog using the dog bins provided
- Stub out and place cigarette ends in litter bins
Remember it is an offence to:
- Drop litter including cigarettes, and gum
- Feed birds on the highway
- Allow your dog to foul pavements, roads and public open
spaces
