The Recycling Rangers page on the Rochford District Council
website includes lots of information and facts about reducing,
reusing and recycling rubbish. There are also a number of
factsheets and fun facts to help children learn about why managing
our rubbish is so important for the environment.

The Yellow Woods challenge
The Yellow Woods Challenge is an environmental campaign for
schools run by Yellow Pages and the Woodland Trust working with
local authorities throughout the country.

The Recycling bus
The Recycling Bus is a mobile exhibition vehicle owned by Essex
County Council that is used to promote waste awareness. The bus
contains an abundance of information as well as hands-on activities
and is available for primary and secondary schools during
term-time, as well as community events.

The Essex County Council Waste Education Team
The Essex County Council Waste Education Team deliver Waste
Education Programmes free of charge in Essex County Council primary
schools to support the delivery of the framework through the theme
of waste. The National Curriculum linked programmes involve a visit
to schools by the Recycling Bus during which pupils take part in
lessons on board the vehicle. Following the visit, schools are set
the challenge of completing a pledge to reduce, reuse or recycle
the school's waste. Upon successful completion of the pledge and a
short evaluation form, schools will receive a certificate to
recognise their achievement.

fones4schools provide a mobile phone collection for schools and
colleges throughout the UK. Each school can win a prize and a
donation of £300 for every 200 mobiles collected is awarded,
irrelevant of their condition or age.
