Recycling for Flats - Frequently Asked Questions
What facilities are currently available for the collection of
recyclables from flats?
Communal recycling collections have been provided to the
majority of flats in the District where this is feasible. The
typical recycling facility will consist of a number of bins, each
labelled according to the materials which they accept. Most flats
will have facilities to recycle glass, food and drink cans,
cardboard, paper and plastic.
Where are the communal recycling bins located?
If there is room in the bin store, the facilities will be
located there. If not, they will be located nearby or at the most
suitable location which is convenient for the residents. The number
and combination of bins is flexible, according to space
availability and the number of flats in the building.
How often are the recyclables bins emptied?
Collections take place on a weekly basis.
The recyclables bins are full. What should I do?
Please do not leave any recyclables next to the bins as these will
have to be cleared separately and will make the area look untidy.

I have a bulky item which needs to be disposed of. What should
I do?
Please do not simply leave the item in the bin area. This
constitutes fly-tipping, which is a criminal offence. Instead, call
the Bulky Waste hotline on 01702 318 079 during the hours of 8.30am
and 5pm (4.30pm on Fridays) and collection of the item/s can be
arranged.
