Recycling for Caravans
The feasibility of the collection of a wider range of recyclable
materials and the collection of compostables from Caravan sites is
currently being assessed, and discussed with all the relevant
authorities.
All residents should have access to recycling facilities and we
hope to facilitate this in the vast majority of cases via the
provision of the Maximise Recycling Scheme.
However, some residents at caravan sites have access to communal
recycling bins for the collection of food and drink cans, glass and
paper. These bins are emptied on a weekly basis. The recycling will
be sent to be sorted, before being recycled into new materials.
How to use the communal recycling bins
Caravan sites with recycling have access to the following 3
types of bin:
- Paper (grey bin with blue lid)
- Glass (grey bin with white lid)
- Cans (grey bin with grey lid)
Please place all materials loose into the appropriate bin (as
clearly indicated by the label). All items should be rinsed out and
clean before placing them into the communal recycling bins.
Here is a summary of the materials which are accepted in the
caravan recycling bins:
Paper bin
- Newspapers and Magazines
- Office paper
- Telephone directories
- Shredded paper
- Catalogues (please separate the cover and pages from hard
backed catalogues)
- Yellow Pages
To recycle envelopes please remove any gummed edges and any
plastic windows and place them in the non-recyclables bin.
Glass bin
- Perfume bottles
- Broken glass jars and bottles
- Jam jars
- Cook-in sauce jars
- Spirit, wine and beer bottles
Cans bin
- Food and drink cans and tins (clean)
- Aerosol cans (empty)
- Foil (clean)
- Tin lids
- Aluminium food containers (clean)
Please do not put any of the following items in the communal
recycling bin/s:
- Black sacks or bin liners of any kind
- Wrappers, crisp packets, plastic films or plastic packets
- Bubble Wrap
- Clingfilm
- Polystyrene
These items should be disposed of in your non-recycling or
refuse bin.
There are also various recycling banks located throughout the
district where residents are able to recycling a wide range of
materials:
- Cans
- Paper
- Glass
- Plastic bottles
- Textiles
- Paper based drinks and liquid food cartons
