Pigeons

Overpopulation of feral pigeons in built up areas can cause health and safety problems.

The Council encourages the safe and hygienic disposal of all waste, especially fast food waste products to prevent such overpopulation. Where the feral pigeon population has to be controlled, only humane methods will be used.

For more information on dealing with feral pigeons, please refer to Related Links at the bottom of the page.

However, some pigeons are not wild, but are racing or homing pigeons that have become lost or tired. For information on what to do should you find such a pigeon please refer to the Royal Pigeon Racing Association website in the Related Links at the bottom of the page.
