Changes in Circumstances

 

If you are currently claiming Council Tax or Housing Benefit, and there has been a change in your circumstances, it may alter the amount of benefit you are entitled to. This includes any changes in the circumstances of the people who live in your home.

 

It is important that you report this change to the Revenues and Benefits Team promptly, to do this simply complete the Change of Circumstances form which are available by contacting our office within 28 days.  Examples of the types of changes that will affect your entitlement to benefit:

 

  • If your partner stops or starts getting Income Support, state benefits or any other income.
  • If the amount of your state benefit or private pension changes.
  • If you or your partner's wages go up or down (including overtime).
  • If the number of people living with you changes.
  • If any of your children leave school.
  • If you change your address.
  • If you have another child.
  • If your rent changes.
  • If your or your partner's savings change.
  • The income of one of the people living with you goes up or down.
  • If you or your partner goes into hospital.
  • If you or your partners Tax Credits change
