Verification Number

 

Local Authorities (Referendums) (Petitions and Directions) (England) Regulations 2000 requires that every local authority publish the number that is equal to 5% of local government electors for their area. This figure represents the number of signatures needed on a petition to cause a referendum as to whether an authority should change to a different form of governance.
