Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy 2008 - 2013

The Council has recently developed and approved its Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy and its associated action plan – the ClimateCO₂de.

The ClimateCO₂de aims to improve natural resource efficiency both within Council operations and out in the community.

Resource efficiency is not just about the environment. Or economics. Or climate change. It cuts through every aspect of our lives. From over filling the kettle for our first cup of tea in the morning; to driving to the shops when we could probably walk. There are things we all do every day that are beginning to add up in a big way.

The benefits of improving resource efficiency are many and varied, from reducing our carbon emissions to improving health and wellbeing.

So how will the ClimateCO₂de help?

The ClimateCO₂de heralds the start of a programme of services that will make it easier for our communities to act in more environmentally conscious ways. To help them engage with often remote issues, such as reducing carbon emissions, and empower them via the provision of accessible and local services.
