Neighbourhood Policing
What is neighbourhood policing?
Neighbourhood policing is about local policing; police, partners
and the community working together to identify and tackle issues of
concern in Essex.
Neighbourhood Policing is about creating a team dedicated to
each local area. The areas are small and typically will include a
sergeant, police constable, police community support officers and
special constables. The neighbourhood policing team will work with
local partners and residents to make your neighbourhood a safer
place.
Neighbourhoods within Rochford District
There are six neighbourhood policing teams in the Rochford
District; Hockley, Canewdon & Ashingdon, Rochford, Hullbridge,
Wakering and Rayleigh. Each neighbourhood has a Neighbourhood
Constable (NC), formerly a Neighbourhood Specialist Officer (NSO).
The NCs and contact numbers for each neighbourhood are:-
- Hockley - PC Gary Tween / PC Tim Littman - 0300 333 4444 ext
490543
- Canewdon & Ashingdon - PC Steve Thomas - 0300 333 4444 ext
494106
- Rochford - PC Stuart Goldsack / PC Paul Ledger - 0300 333 4444
ext 494103
- Hullbridge - PC Emma Chambers - 0300 333 4444 ext 490544
- Wakering PC Steve Thomas - 0300 333 4444 ext 494106
- Rayleigh - PC Laura Dell - 0300 333 4444 ext 490126
Each neighbourhood policing team, along with partners, wants to
know the community issues which matter to those that live and work
in the Rochford District and there are various ways in which they
can be contacted; by phone, in the street or attending an event.
These issues are then taken to Neighbourhood Action Panels (NAP)
meeting.
What is a Neighbourhood Action Panel (NAP)?
A Neighbourhood Action Panel, often referred to as a NAP, is a
regular meeting held within a neighbourhood. The panel consists of
people who live or work in the neighbourhood or those who provide a
service to the local community. The NAPs are run by the Essex
Police Neighbourhood Constables. The District is divided up into
six Police neighbourhoods; Ashingdon & Canewdon, Rochford,
Hockley, Wakering and Hullbridge and an NC is responsible for
policing a neighbourhood along with Police Community Support
Officers (PCSOs).
The purpose of the NAP is to have input on issues which matter
to those who live and work in the District and these issues are
taken to the NAP to consider. The NAP will agree the community
priorities and decide upon a realistic and achievable course of
action so that results can be delivered that matter to you.
Priorities are set by the Community without influence from the
Police.
A Neighbourhood Action Panel is held approximately every 4-6
weeks in each of the neighbourhoods. If you are interested in
attending, dates and details and the current priorities identified
for your area can be found on the Essex Police website
http://www.essex.police.uk/yourarea then select the
Rochford.
