Cooling Towers
The Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condenser
Regulations 1992 require the notification of wet cooling towers and
evaporative condensers to local authorities in whose area the
equipment is situated.
This is regardless of whether it is the Local Authority or
Health and Safety Executive (HSE) who are the enforcing
authority.
The reason for the need of notification is the potential for
Legionella to be found in wet cooling towers and evaporative
condensers. The main purpose of the requirement is to assist
inspectors in investigating Legionella outbreaks thought likely to
have arisen from these systems.
To give notification of your cooling tower, please download the
form from the Related Documents section and return it to the
Commercial Regulation Unit at Rochford District Council. South
Street, Rochford, Essex, SS4 1BW. There is no charge for
notification.
