Food Hygiene Inspections

All food premises in the district are inspected on a risk based, rolling programme.

We check that:

  • Food is sound and fit to eat and has not been illegally imported.
  • There are hygienic methods for food storage, preparation, service and delivery.
  • The food business operator has a Food Safety Management System and has assessed and is controlling all the food hazards in the operation of their business.
    • Steps to control the hazards been put in place.
    • Are the controls being monitored.
    • Are the hazards being reviewed regularly and before the business operation changes.
  • That food handlers are adequately trained.

We have a range of enforcement options from advice to closure if there is a an imminent risk to health.

More information about inspection programme, approach to enforcement and enforcement action is contained in our Food Safety Service Plan which can be found in the Related Documents below.
