Housing Benefit
Housing Benefit is a Social Security benefit scheme and is available to give people on a low income help with their housing costs.
If you live in private rented accommodation (including Housing Associations) and you qualify for Housing Benefit, you or your landlord/lady will be sent a payment, either by cheque or to a bank account. This is known as a rent allowance. Examples of the kind of accommodation you can be living in are:
- furnished or unfurnished flats
- bedsits
- rented houses
- hostels
- lodgings
- Housing Association properties
- mobile homes

You can come to our offices between 8:30am and 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and between 8:30am and 5:00pm on a Friday. We are closed at the weekend. Our address is:
